Back story: I returned from Chicago and brought Sylvie a pink fuzzy coat, she was modeling it for Aunt Sunni, who is visiting.
Aunt Sunni: Ooo, it's from my favorite store, H & M!
Sylvie: I've been to a store called 7Eleven!

Career Woman
Little Miss Sylvie is quite a driven young lady - she knows exactly what she wants to be when she grows up, all three of her careers. We all know Sylvie's obsession with dolphins, so it's no surprise she wants to work with them, but after our trip to Sea World, she narrowed it down to working at the dolphin show. On her days off, she plans to work at cold stone, mixing up different concoctions she has developed and she wants me working along side her. She had her first training when her school had their annual ice cream social where the kids get to make their own sundae. When I told her about the upcoming event, she jumped up and down and told me she couldn't wait because this will be her training for cold stone!
I didn't think she could get any more adorable, until she added her third career, which also happens to be her hobby, collecting. This is not just your average collecting, she now wants to open a museum to house her collections and show other people as well as teach them how to collect. Her favorite things to collect are: shells, stuff at the beach, rocks, feathers, sticks, and leaves. I'm looking into space now so we can rid the house of some of her 'treasures'. I have also been requested at this work place, I just love that two of her jobs involve working side by side with me, so sweet.

Ahhhhh
As parents, we spend so much of our time teaching our children how to navigate through this world - how to be kind, loving, independent, leaders, to resolve conflict, just to be great. Well, Little Dude, aka Lincoln, has mastered a new skill we taught him. He started drinking from a cup about a month ago and LOVES it. He prefers cold water, about an inch, and gulps it down, reaching for more. He smiles this huge grin with each sip, my proud little man. All of this is fine and dandy, but it's not the newest skill. As of today, after each sip he lets out a big Ahhhh, like this was the most satisfying drink of his life. We are such proud parents. This is going to come in so handy after a long day at the office, coming home, cracking open an ice cold beer and letting out an Ahhhh.

stealing my crown
Everyone knows that I am the queen of back seat driving - I'm sorry to those who suffer through it, I just can't help myself. Well, I have been dethroned and by none other than my darling 4.8 yo, Sylvie. I didn't teach her, I swear! It all started with that curious little mind of hers - you know, the one that asks a million questions about every tiny detail of the world.
Living in Los Angeles, where drivers are morons and she may have heard a honk or two and possibly some 'what are you doing?!' to said morons, it has lead her to question all things related to driving. It started off with, 'mommy, why did that car almost hit us?' and has branched out into why we stop at the red light, go at green, laws, pedestrians, on and on. She feels as though she has mastered driving theory and needs to point out how I should man the road. For example, I was at least ten cars back at a red light, the light turns green and within a nanosecond, Sylvie is telling me, in her sweet and kind voice (yea, right!) 'GO, mommy the light is GREEN!' or when I was a block and a half from just turned red light and she told me to 'STOP'. My favorite is when I was turning left, waiting for traffic to clear and I hear 'mom, what are you waiting for, GO!'. Um, should I drive into the massive amount of cars coming our way?
Karma. Mom, you are laughing right now.

just like daddy
Lincoln is at the copying stage, currently enjoying a good head nod. You shake your head at him, he shakes it back at you. Unfortunately, this is only in the 'no' direction, 'yes' is still a work in progress. He is also throwing a ball - well more like grabbing it and tossing it randomly, which makes him giggle. Dad is gearing him up for Yankee's spring training. So far, we know Lincoln will be a lot like his father, but it wasn't until this morning that it really sunk in. Here's what went down...I was eating a 'crabby patty' (Sylvie's name for veggie sausage) and Mr Lincoln came over to grab a bite. I handed him a piece because, of course, he wants to feed himself, he popped it into his mouth and proceeded to do EXACTLY what his dad does, he wiped his greasy hand on his pants. I love my boys, and I'm glad it wasn't wiped on the couch.
Mom, will you make an apron for the boys to wear?
